Rest/Hospital Baby Shower
Bed Rest Baby
Shower
We have been getting some requests for what to do when the mommy-to-be
is on bed rest or has to be in the hospital earlier than expected and
the baby shower is requested to still go on. We have come up with some
cute ideas to make the best baby shower possible while the mommy-to-be
is on bed rest. Below are some ideas that may be helpful:
Baby Shower Decorations - Decorate the
hospital room or mommy to be's space (if sharing with another hospital
guest) with warm and colorful baby shower decorations. Place baby shower
decorations on the wall, bring balloons and a few things for a table.
Make sure you don't bring anything messy like confetti. A few plants and
flowers (if not allergic) is a great way to brighten the room. Check out
our
baby shower decorations page for even more ideas.
Look at our
baby
shower games page for some great in-door and more quiet games to
play. Guess the nursery rhymes, baby word scrambler or even the TV
family children games are fun and can be played while mommy is on bed
rest.
Bring a photo album of when the
mommy-to-be was young to look at her baby pictures. Have some people
call by phone to feel included and only invite a few people in the room
as the mommy-to-be may feel overwhelmed with too many people in her
room. Gift cards make great
baby
shower gifts if others want to give something. In addition, reach
out early and have her friends and family write down baby advice. Place
this in a memory book which is a nice and memorable gift for the new
mom.
You can also bring some movies talking
about babies like 3 Men and a Baby or other favorites of the mommy-to-be
to watch when everyone leaves. Also bring her favorite books. Bring a
computer, if available, so she can Skype or email her friends and
family. You can run a video conference and have an online baby shower in
the hospital or on bed rest. Bring the mommy-to-be's favorite food (if
she is not on dietary restrictions) and make her feel as comfortable as
possible.
It is important to not push the
mommy-to-be with too much and to follow her lead with how much she can
and wants to handle. It is also important to get in touch with everyone
invited to the baby shower as fast as possible if there are a change in
plans due to the bed rest. The most important thing is to make sure the
mommy-to-be has a memorable time and enjoys herself at her baby shower!
