BABY SHOWER IDEAS - VIDEO CONFERENCING / SKYPE

We received an email from a baby shower visitor named Pam H. who came up with an excellent idea. With so many of our troops away (we are so proud of our troops) or families that are separated by distance and cannot share the baby shower in person, a Skype or Video baby shower is a great way to still get everyone together.

Plan on having a computer set up and logged into Skype or the video connection on. Set everything on in advance so you can make sure to have the video covering the best vantage points of where the mommy-to-be will be sitting. Here are some other helpful tips when having a video baby shower:

Introduce your baby shower video guests to the actual guests that have shown up.

Make sure to have everyone not too loud since the speakers may be sensitive and the video guests may not be able to clearly hear.

Go through our baby shower games pages to choose games that you can play over the phone. Send those games out that have documents you can send by email. Do this prior to the baby shower or have them ready to send out.

Have one person who is in charge of the video connection and monitor to make sure everyone stays on. If people drop off, make sure you have a phone near by so they can call you and figure out why they cannot get back in.

Plan the main events all together so the video guests don't stay on while there is general chit chat. One hour is a good amount of time to have them on the video/skype. The middle of the baby shower is the best time to start the video so everyone is there and the party has great energy.

Have some baby shower decorations in the background of the video to give the baby shower video guests the feeling of celebration.

Open the gifts at the towards the end of the video celebration so those that need to drop off, can and those who want to see baby shower gifts open can watch.

Allow some time to check in with your video guests and see if they would like to say something. Better to do this sooner than later.

Make sure to get a feel when people will drop off the video/Skype so you can have the mommy-to-be thank them for joining and being a part of the baby shower. Make sure to try and open their baby shower gifts first so the mommy-to-be can thank them.
