For my daughters shower, we attached little tags to the invitations stating that instead of buying a baby card, please help start a library for "Cameron" and bring your favorite story book". So now were trying to get into a little theme with the books by decorating with them. Does anyone have suggestions for making centerpieces with little books, or anything else book wise?
Thanks

Borrow or purchase some hard cover books. Try the Goodwill store if you need to purchase them. If the books don't look very nice, you can cover them with cardstock folded into the inside like a book jacket. Then, write your own cute title on the spine.
Place the book in the center of the table. You could even stack them two high if you have enough books. Place a small glass bowl on the top book. Fill it with water and float a candle in the bowl. You could also add some greenery or garland in a circle around the book.

I am planning one with a Story Book theme. I have put a teddy bear in a child's rocker as a decoration. The Bear is wearing a solid color tee-shirt bibb and diaper. The tee-Shirt says " It's Story Book time - grab your blankie and let's snuggle ( I printed this on a large white shipping label) He is holding a blanket and has a passifer hot glued to his mouth. I will also tie a balloon to the chair and place it on the front porch for the shower. For the table decorations, I purchased little hard-cardboard box sets of children's books (these will be given as gifts after the shower). I used baby wrapping paper to put covers on the books and wrote the baby's Name on them ~ one letter on each book. They will stand on the table behind the cake. I plan to also write WELCOME BABY on two books and place near the name, and on other books write other messages and place around the food table. For a game I purchased 12-14 golden rule children's books. I will copy the cover and pin one to each guests back as they come in. We will have a game where you have to guess which book you have by only using yes or no questions. The book will be displayed throughout the area as decorations. The last one to get theirs has to read a page or two of the book of their choice. Ofcourse I will have forgot to mentions they have to wear a baby big and have a passifier in their mouth. These books will be given to the baby after the shower too.

I made some pastel balloon animals (like the clowns do) and taped them to dowels. I put these into a square vase that had tissue paper in it and used this as my centerpiece.

I made mini diaper cakes and attached pink and brown ribbons to them. I then bought some of the toys she wanted and hung them off the cakes.
The mother can then take the centerpieces home and use them!

A diaper cake makes a beautiful centerpiece on the table and the possibilities are endless. After the party the new mom has something pretty to decorate the nursery and later diapers for the baby. Baby 2B Nashville has beautiful designs.

Diaper Cakes are always a great option. Some websites even will let you customize the cake before you order it.
