I am wondering what favors and prizes men would enjoy. the first thing that comes to mind is cigars to smoke with daddy to be once the baby is born. But does anyone have any other ideas that are relatively cheap?

How about the gum cigars in the coordinating color of the sex of the baby. I did a co-ed shower and purchased movie tix at costco as well as restaurant. In N Out gift cards? Or starbucks??

good luck...

I have the same question...I'm hosting a co-ed shower with older uncles of the dad-to-be included....any ideas on games that won't offend?

We had a co-ed shower for our first baby. My friend planned it with a superhero theme. Each person had to make up their own superhero name and corresponding symbol (that would go on your cape.) The men got into it way more than the women. We didn't really play any games, it was more of a get-together.

I had a coed shower.. and instead of guessing baby food in the jar by the look, the guys wore disposable bibs and had to taste test them and guess what it was. Pretty funny to watch grown men with bibs and baby spoons....the one guy with 4 kids was the only one to get them all correct!

Gotta think like a guy!:) So I ended up in the auto care department! I found lots of great ideas...small pks of interior wipes, unique air fresheners, window decals, etc...Even tho I had a theme, when it came to a coed shower, it was much easier to just buy little things that werent neccessarily in my theme. If you still want to include that theme, use stickers/wraps to personalize.

The shower I am hosting is this Saturday. We are doing the same thing as Karissa mentioned - I bought bibs for all the men to wear (and will use clothes pins to attach them and then my daughter in law can take them home for the baby) and they will do the taste test. The women will guess who will get the most correct. I found these cute bottles of wine with a babies footprint on the label. I have no idea if the wine is good but the bottle is ADORABLE! All the Easter candy I bought, I pulled out all the blue candy and bought the gum cigars too and put them in a clear vase for decoration and for people to take home. I figure the party will last two hours so one game where the guys 'star', then eat, visit, open gifts....that should take care of it.

I THINK A DIAPERING CONTEST FOR THE MEN USING CLOTH DIAPERS AND BABY SAFETY PINS (REMEMBER THOSE?) MIGHT BE FUNNY.
WHOEVER DIAPERS THE DOLL AND HOLDS IT UP FIRST WINS--THE DIAPER CANNOT FALL OFF THOUGH.

Here's another game that would be funny, and is Co-Ed:
The 'poopy' diaper game:
Before the party, the hostess melts 10 different candy bars, and places them in 10 'poopy' diapers. Guests have to smell them, and guess what kind of candy bars they are.

We had beer and wine coolers at the shower that i helped with and any of the guys that wanted a beer had to drink it out of a baby bottle

I'm planning a baby shower for my bff. The original theme was all mommy-centered, then she told me her husband demanded to come. Now, just a week before this giant affair, I find out that she went behind my back and has called and invited a number of men to the shower so her poor husband won't feel left out. I feel pretty irritated b/c I'm the one paying for everything, taking rsvp's, purchasing cake, doing games, etc. I'm going to look awfully stupid if 10 or 15 extra guests show up and I don't have enough food or favors. I know 10 or 15 doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm giving nice favors and things that are pretty expensive to go out and buy another dozen of. Anybody else think this is rude? I'm now looking for a way to make the men feel silly for coming to a baby shower!

Fidets:
That sounds pretty petty of you. She probably did it behind your back because you're the type of person who wants it all YOUR way. Instead of trying to make the men feel silly (and making yourself look like a rude hag) try being gracious and throwing in a few ideas to make the men feel welcome...it's not their fault they weren't originally invited!
If you can't afford the extra guests, gently ask your mom to be's husband to chip in a bit for extra food and favors!!

It was rude for her to invite other guests without telling you first, but why make them feel unwelcome?

Fidgets2313 I understand you feel really irritated by your friend inviting her husband to the shower but he should have been asked also. In this day and age a lot of men like to be involved with these types of events. My partner is involved in the shower planning but minimally by choice, however the planner does run things by him and so do I. Instead of buying the men the same exact gift, buy candy cigars and place labels on them to hand out. It is inexpensive and it will decrease your chance of being overwhelmed with the situation.

Also, just a suggestion, if your friend is your true BFF, making her husband and his friends feel too silly at this event may backfire on your friendship. Make sure you don't let your feelings get in the way of the true purpose of this glorious event. I hope all turns out well.

We had a baby shower that was an absolute blast with the guys and they played all the games as we had little involvement and some just sat back and watched.
The first game was a baby food feeding contest. The guys wore bibs and sat in a chair facing forward. Then a girl would stand behind the guy with a jar of baby food and a baby spoon facing the same direction. The idea was to see who could feed the baby food to the guy the fastest. So the girl would spoon up some food reach her arm around the front of the guy and try to find his mouth. This is where the bibs come in. We also tried this with having the girl blindfolded. It is hilarious - have the video cameras rolling.

The next game was a beer drinking contest from baby bottles. It is funny to see because the guys cannot suck the beer from the bottle very fast. They make all kinds of faces and they have the bibs on. If you don't mind ruining some of the nipples on the bottle you can make the hole bigger. The first time we did this game without doing that it took a long time and they ended unscrewing the lid and chugged down the beer.

They had a lot of fun and still talk about it.
